What is an aluminum-based circuit board? The aluminum-based circuit board is composed of three layers, which are the circuit layer (copper foil), the insulating layer and the metal base layer.

Aluminum-based circuit boards and FR-4 fiberglass circuit boards are both PCBs. Comparing the LED aluminum substrate with the FR-4 glass fiber circuit board, the difference of the LED aluminum substrate is that it uses an aluminum-based material, and its thermal conductivity is much better than that of ordinary FR4 materials. Aluminum-based circuit board is a unique metal-based copper-clad laminate, which has good thermal conductivity, electrical insulation performance and mechanical processing performance. When designing, the PCB should be placed as close as possible to the aluminum base to reduce the thermal resistance caused by the pottina alue.



The aluminum-based circuit board is composed of a circuit layer, a heat-conducting insulating layer and a metal base layer; the circuit layer (that is, copper foil) is usually etched to form a printed circuit, so that the components of the component are connected to each other. In general, the circuit layer is required to have a large load. Flow capacity, so thicker copper foil should be used, the thickness is generally 35um~280um. The heat-conducting insulating layer is the core technology of LED aluminum-based circuit boards. It is generally composed of special polymers filled with special ceramics. It has small thermal resistance, excellent viscoelastic properties, thermal aging resistance, and can withstand mechanical and thermal stress. . The metal base is the supporting member of the aluminum-based circuit board, which requires high thermal conductivity. It is generally an aluminum plate, and a copper plate can also be used. It is suitable for conventional machining such as drilling, punching and cutting.


Because of its high thermal conductivity and good heat dissipation performance, the aluminum substrate can effectively export internal heat, and has become the first choice for LED manufacturers. The LED aluminum substrate has two sides, the white side is for soldering the LED pins, and the other side shows the natural color of aluminum. Generally, the heat-conducting paste will be applied to the heat-conducting part. The base material consists of an aluminum core and standard FR4, which has a thermal insulation layer to efficiently dissipate heat while cooling components and improving the overall performance of the product. At present, many LED lamps and cooling product industries are using PCB aluminum substrates. Commonly used in LED lighting fixtures, indoor lighting such as bulb lamps, fluorescent lamps, outdoor lighting such as street lights, stage lights, and automotive electronics are also used in aluminum substrates.
